Director of Nursing (DON)
Location: Pittsburgh, PA 15207.
Contract Duration: 3 Months.
Schedule: Full-Time | Primarily Monday–Friday, Daylight Hours.
Compensation: $52.00–$55.88 per hour.
Weekend/Holiday Coverage: Rotational as needed.
On-Call Requirement: 24/7 availability.
Position Overview:
Tryfacta is seeking an experienced Director of Nursing (DON) for our client in Pittsburgh, PA. This is a 3-month temporary contract opportunity for an experienced RN leader with a strong background in long-term care nursing.
The Director of Nursing will be responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and overseeing all Nursing Department operations while ensuring the delivery of high-quality resident care and compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
The ideal candidate will have proven leadership experience in a skilled nursing or long-term care environment and the ability to effectively manage clinical operations, staffing, quality improvement, infection prevention, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct and oversee the day-to-day operations of the Nursing Department.
- Lead, supervise, develop, and evaluate nursing staff.
- Participate in recruitment, interviewing, hiring, scheduling, and disciplinary actions.
- Conduct regular resident rounds and provide direct nursing care when necessary.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local long-term care regulations.
- Lead and support Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) initiatives.
- Collaborate with physicians, consultants, residents, families, and interdisciplinary care teams.
- Oversee infection prevention and control programs.
- Prepare the facility and nursing department for regulatory surveys and inspections.
- Develop and implement corrective action plans when deficiencies are identified.
- Investigate resident incidents and promote resident safety.
- Monitor nursing services, staffing levels, clinical outcomes, and quality indicators.
- Serve as the Administrator in their absence, as needed.
- Participate in emergency response and resident evacuation procedures.
- Maintain a safe, professional, and collaborative work environment.
Required Qualifications:
- Registered Nursing (RN) degree or diploma from an accredited college or university.
- Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience in a skilled nursing/long-term care facility.
- Current, unrestricted RN license in the applicable state.
- Current CPR certification.
- Demonstrated nursing leadership and staff-management experience.
- Strong knowledge of long-term care nursing practices and regulatory requirements.
- Knowledge of infection prevention and control standards.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Ability and willingness to provide 24/7 on-call coverage.
