Registered Nurse (RN) – Radiation Oncology

Contract Duration: 13 Weeks
Schedule: Full-Time | Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–4:00 PM
Position Overview:
We is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) – Radiation Oncology for our client in Bethesda, MD. This is a 13-week contract assignment with possible extension for a dedicated nursing professional with experience in radiation oncology or ambulatory care.
The RN will provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care to individuals receiving radiation oncology treatment. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical assessment skills, experience with IV access and blood draws, and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary oncology care team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct nursing care to patients receiving radiation oncology treatment.
- Assess and monitor patients throughout the course of treatment.
- Identify changes in patient condition and promptly communicate concerns to the appropriate clinical team.
- Perform IV starts, blood draws, and access implanted ports as required.
- Administer and monitor treatments and medications according to established protocols and physician orders.
- Collaborate with radiation oncologists, physicists, nurses, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team.
- Educate patients and families regarding treatment, procedures, medications, and symptom management.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and timely documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
- Promote patient safety and adherence to infection prevention and control standards.
- Provide compassionate support to patients and families throughout the treatment process.
Required Qualifications:
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland or a compact-state license, as applicable.
- Minimum 2 years of radiation oncology or ambulatory care nursing experience.
- Demonstrated ability to:
- Start peripheral IVs.
- Perform blood draws.
- Access implanted ports.
- Current BLS certification.
- Strong clinical assessment and patient-care skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Ability to work effectively with physicians and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
- Experience with electronic medical records.
Preferred Candidate Profile:
The ideal candidate is an experienced RN with a background in radiation oncology or ambulatory care who is comfortable providing direct patient care in an outpatient oncology environment. Candidates should be compassionate, detail-oriented, clinically skilled, and committed to delivering safe and high-quality patient care.
Work Schedule:
- Monday–Friday | 7:30 AM–4:00 PM.
- No regular weekend schedule is indicated for this assignment.
